"Take a short stroll up the tree-clad hill that leads from the little river at the back of St Davids Cathedral and you’ll soon arrive at a metal gate with an imposing mansion standing solidly beyond. While this may look like the private home of a multimillionaire, it is in fact a seven-room boutique hotel stuffed full of modern art. Penrhiw — pronounced “pen-ru” and meaning “head of the street” — is in a wonderfully quiet spot and was an early 19th-century convent before becoming a place of spiritual retreat."

Great Little Places is a collection of the very best small hotels, inns, farmhouses, restaurants with rooms and guest houses in Wales, and we are very proud to now be a member.
Since Great Little Places was launched over 20 years ago it has established a reputation in Britain and worldwide as the collection of small and friendly places to stay in Wales. Small is beautiful – but such places, unlike the best hotels (which are listed in almost every guidebook), are much more difficult to find. Locating small establishments that really stand out from the huge choice is much more of a challenge – but it’s what GLP is all about.
